Pete & Pedro Clay is one of those products you just have to try to believe, and by believe, we mean flip your sh*t over the non-greasy, volume add, no shine, and medium hold styling control it offers. Clay adds body and thickness that makes hair feel, well, fatter. The light, non-gritty formula absorbs quickly, making it the best product for men with thin or thinning hair, but is still great for thick hair too. Last, but definitely not least, Clay has a nice refreshing scent and washes out really easily. Paraben-free.

    Love it

Smooth, great smell and good hold. Tried many products but this is the product that I am always returning too. Love the way how smooth it is to apply. My hair is medium long, medium thickness (width of hair), but is really thick as in per mm2/inch2.

    Loyal customer; a bit disappointed

I use Pete & Pedro exclusively for all my styling needs and recommend to anyone who inquires about men's product. I'll bounce between the paste, putty, and clay as my hairstyle changes from super short to slightly longer throughout the months. I've recently tried pomade as well, and it is super. In terms of quality (desired hold, desired shine, malleability, ability to wash out, consistency of use), I am always satisfied. Product is labeled very accurately and the video tutorials are great. If you know what you want/need and you select accordingly, you can't go wrong.

However, one area that is consistently disappointing is the aroma. In my opinion (and my girlfriend's and friends'), these products lack a defining masculine scent. Out of the products I've tried, pomade is the best as it is neutral (slightly minty aroma). Unfortunately, it's more of a "sweet" mint than an "herbal" mint but still passable.

I've decided to comment on this now because it seems that the smell of the clay has changed (or I've just gotten a random batch). It used to be tolerable and my favorite product, but, to my nose, it now just smells like whatever chemicals are used in perms mixed with some strange variant of elderly woman's perfume. I don't think I'll be able to use it unless I have nothing else left.

If you can get past the smell, which is still better than most overpowering, obnoxious in-store products, you'll be able to enjoy a superior styling product which will surpass any competitor in the majority, if not all, means of assessment. But if smell is highly important, I'd suggest putty or pomade if it suits your hair type/styling needs. Paste has a good aroma as well (strong citrus but a bit too fruity/sweet), but not necessarily one I'd prefer to wear and will be up to the individual user.

I hope this helps someone in their choice. I'm still a strong advocate for this brand of product. I just wish they had more unscented options or several scents to choose fro...

    Working as advertised

I've only used it a few days but it has worked as advertised. I'm comparing it with the putty to see which will be my day by day product.
