Everything I’d want in a Pomade. I’ve never been interested in dealing with oil-based Pomades, and popular water-based ones like Suavecito and Layrite, dry out your hair like a Gel. This conditions and holds, leaving your hair soft and in place, with just the right amount of shine. With Salt it creates a soft but natural looking finish for my coarse/thick hair.
Hold is a little weak
I don't really style my hair all that much, I keep it fairly short so I don't need a super strong hold. I had switched to mousse years ago because I just didn't appreciate the greasiness or odor of the older pomades like Brylcreem or Three Flowers. This pomade is nothing like that. Firstly, it's very firm, almost as thick and firm as paste. It's easy to work in the palms of your hands and simple to apply. It does a very nice job without the odor and excessive shine. It also doesn't leave your hair feeling stiff or like there's something in your hair like mousse does. It blends in very well. It leaves your hair with a shine, but nothing I consider excessive. Overall, a very easy product to use and I will be buying it again.
I primarily use the Putty because I like the hold, matte finish and texture. However, I have thick/frizzy/course hair that tends to be on the dryer side. I primarily use the pomade by taking very small amounts to touch up on frizzy flyaways and help keep the front of my hair up, while adding a little moisture. It's also great for occasions where you want to look sleek and dapper.
The pomade is supposed to have medium hold. I would say light hold is a more accurate description. The smell is supposed to be minty, but it smells more like an old newspaper
